Poem 2: Joe Bloggs

Tall and slim but healthy
Parting the crowd without thought
Pale with a honey glow
Hair bright red as blood

Catching many male eyes
Accepting any offered drinks
Giving out kisses
Drinking more than most

Dancing without care across the dancing space
Not pushing away the men who want her
One offers a night together
She trades that for more drinks

She staggers to other bars
Turned away for not walking straight
Shouted at by drivers
Then collapsing

A kinder man finds her
Calls an ambulance
She knows nothing
Except when the siren starts

Her bag was lost
So nobody knows her name
Nobody knows who died
From alcohol poisoning
